It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Irene “Peggy” Cavner on August 8th at the age of 93. Mom was born in Fort William on October 3, 1928. She attended Francis Street School, Fort William Collegiate and King’s Business College. She married Art Cavner on March 25, 1948 and together they raised 5 children.

Mom and Dad loved to dance and bowl at the Westfort Community Center. They also loved to party with their neighbours and friends. Mom was a member of the Lakehead Choral Group, which she thoroughly enjoyed. They loved to travel when they could and walk down by the river with their beloved dog Buffy.

After Barb was born, mom returned to the workforce, starting at 3rd Division Court, Grandview Lodge the Applied Arts Department at Confederation College and The Lakehead Board of Education. She retired from the Board of Education in 1988. After retirement, Mom enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with her friends where she could gamble and dance to Frank Sinatra.

Predeceased by, her Father Duncan Henderson 1967, Son Frederick (Rick) Duncan, 1980, Husband Arthur Frederick 1982, Mother-in-Law Anne Cavner 1986, Mother Dorcas (Dorrie) Henderson 1989, Sisters-in-law Doris Frost 2005, Claraine Cavner 2015, brother-in-law Harold Cavner 2019, Son- in- law Ken Morrow 2010.

Survived by, Brother Dr. Donald Henderson (Mary) of Thunder Bay, Children: Donna Morrow, Thunder Bay, David Cavner (Carrie), Thunder Bay, Karen Koroscil (Dan), Frankford, Ontario, Barbara Larson (Lorne), Fort Saskatchewan, AB – Grandchildren: Paul (Tiffany), Mark (Karrie), Matthew (Ashleigh), Lisa ( Scott), Sheree, Robyn, Ian, Tom (Sarah), Richard (Amanda),Michele (Mike, Christopher) Lyndsey (Ian).14 Great Grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Joseph’s Care Group. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
