Marietta (Tassone) Larizza

It is with profound grief that we convey the loss of our beloved Marietta (Tassone) Larizza on Sunday, August 7, 2022. God, in his great mercy placed his gentle hand on her after a sudden stroke befell her while in her favourite place to be- her ever flourishing garden.

Marietta devoted her life to her large and extended family. She was a loyal wife to Nazzareno, whom she married on March 2, 1952 in her home town of Serra San Bruno, Italy. She boldy followed where he led, traveling to Canada and settling in Port Arthur, with her daughter Maria and son Rocco. Her husband had procured a large rambling house on Waverley Street, which she shared with her brothers and sisters. Family was everything to her and she flourished while feeding and nourishing her loved ones.

Marietta added three more treasures to her chest; daughters Rosarina, Bruna and son Cosmo. Her cup runneth over surrounded by her family and siblings. She was an indulgent mother and mother-in-law, who did her utmost to make our lives easier by having cooked and baked goods readily available when we hurriedly arrived at the homestead after school and work.

Marietta was an adoring grandmother, and great grandmother who showered us all with oodles of love and that cache of ever-present chocolates. Most importantly she always said a kind word to those that needed it, readily gave a kiss and embrace to mend a hurt and spent countless time with loved ones. She was someone who was glad to listen to whatever her friends had to say and took the time to look at things their way. This soft spoken and gentile woman nurtured all of us with traditional foods (and cookies!), boundless patience and love.

Marietta is greatly mourned by her daughter Maria and husband Carmine Turco, son Rocco and wife Frances, daughter Rose Mauro, daughter Bruna and husband James Dilisio, son Cosmo and wife Maria-Theresa, grandchildren Francesco, Mark, and Julie (Wes Nadeau) Turco, Michael (Melissa) and Steven (Kaley) Larizza, Deanna (Bart Rzeszowski), John (Marissa) and Patrick (Lili) Mauro, Jessica (Luc Milloy) and Melissa Dilisio, her adored great grandchildren, Zakkary and Lola Nadeau, Isabella and Alivia Larizza, Sofia Larizza, Henry, Ilarya and Leo Rzeszowski, Nicholas and Sofie Milloy. She is also survived by her close-knit family; her brother Cosmo (Immacolata) Tassone, sister Bruna Larizza, sister Angelina Tassone (Italy), sisters-in-law Raffaela Tassone, Gina Tassone and Pina Tassone (Italy) along with numerous loved and loving nieces and nephews.

Marietta was predeceased by her husband Nazzareno (1987), her much loved son-in-law Pasquale Mauro, parents Rosarina and Bruno Tassone (Italy), parents-in-law Maria Francesca and Rocco Larizza (Italy), sisters Rosina and husband Bruno Caruso, Nazzarena and husband Salvatore Pelaia, brothers Giuseppe and wife Filomena Tassone, Salvatore Tassone (Italy), Antonio Tassone and Nazzareno Tassone, brothers-in-law Bruno Larizza and Domenico Pisani (Italy).
