With profound sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of our Mom, Granny, Sister, Aunt, & dear friend. In the early hours of August 28, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family.

Mamie was a strong women who overcame illness & injuries with grace, humour, & courage. Nothing was impossible. She was fiercely independent, maintaining her own home until the end. We will all miss her laughter, love of life & enjoyment of parties preferably with lots of music. We have fond memories of her dancing to the song YMCA.

Mamie was born in Fort William on April 15, 1928 to Nicholas & Clara Carney. She remained a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay.

Mamie met Peter Eisworth at Canada Car & they were married in 1952. Together they built 2 homes & raised their 4 children. Mamie cherished time spent with family, her home was always open & everyone was welcomed. You could always count on snacks or a meal. She was famous for: her egg salad sandwiches, chips & dip, fresh baking, tea & coffee, & sometimes a glass of wine or two. Her best years were the ones raising her family. She loved being a mother & later a grandmother more than anything.

In later years, Mamie & Peter enjoyed spending time travelling to visit family & friends across Canada, Florida, Arizona, & the West Indies.

Mamie was a lifelong & devoted member of the Catholic Church. She truly enjoyed assisting with activities at St. Agnes Parish, delivering Communion to the residents at Sister Leila Greco and delivering Meals on Wheels. Mamie was employed by Sears Canada for over 25 years.

Family and faith were the cornerstones of her life.

Mamie is survived by her children: Bryon (Wendy) Eisworth, Maureen Drewes, Ron Eisworth, Clare (Dan) Jones. Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren: Melissa (Bob) Start, Peter (Alexis), Bryon, Melanie Eisworth (Stan), & Branden; Christopher (Carlie), Rustin & Logyn Drewes; Kyle (Lyndsi), & Kacey Drewes; Leonard Cole (Cassie), Jeremy Cole, Justin Cole (Jamie), Kayden, & Jaxson; Chantel (Morgan) Aneurin & Levi Lovell; Danique, Tristen & Grey Jones; Tyrel (Melinda) Jones. Her sister Maurleen McLeod (Henry), sister-in-law Ann Carney (Bob), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and her dear friend Joanne Brimell.

Mamie was predeceased by her husband Peter, siblings: John Carney, Catherine Cameron & Alice Thompson, as well as many friends & extended family.

“Be good to one another, family is Everything”
Love Mom
