A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Mary Elizabeth Rivers left us just as she lived, quietly and at peace, in her sleep on November 30th.

Most loved chosen daughter of Marjorie (Reid) and Herb Rivers, both predeceased. Mary’s endearing lifetime connection with her dearest friend, Mary Ann Gill, richly expanded her family unit.

Mary loved to travel as much as she loved to return home to her four-legged companions, along with many fosters throughout her lifetime. When at home, Mary devoted countless hours fundraising for numerous community and charitable organizations. Mary’s face was a familiar one selling raffle tickets at local malls. Her commitment to the betterment of the community was ever present.

A memorial service will be held in the spring where family and friends may join in celebrating the joy Mary brought to each of our lives.

For those who wish to express gratitude for Mary’s life, messages of condolence may be shared on-line through Blake’s Funeral Chapel website, www.blakefuneralchapel.com. Donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, Children’s Programming, and/or the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society.
