It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Norah Evelyn Goretzki, age 92 years at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, June 19, 2023. She was the daughter of Frederick and Hazel (Frood) Johns, born on December 2, 1930, in Pembroke, Ontario. She had two brothers Kenneth and Lloyd and a sister Melba, all of whom are deceased.
Norah attended and graduated in 1947 from Pembroke Business College with a stenographic and filing certificate. She also held certificates earned for dressmaking, three of them, a certificate for upholstery and a bronze medal for Senior lifesaving. Norah worked as a Nurses Aid at Hogarth Memorial.
Norah was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters Court – Neebing Branch and held a position on the executive board. Money was raised for cancer by making and selling perogies, having teas and bingos. She was a member of Tops.
Norah loved to sing and dance, and she had a beautiful voice. She loved her little dog “Babe”. Norah married Eldon Getz and moved to Northern Ontario. They had two sons Allen Stanley Getz (Marilyn Lenorde -predeceased) and Bradley Collin Getz (Dottie) from the USA. Norah and Eldon had more than 40 wonderful years together before Eldon passed. Norah married Leo Nault and moved to Spiritwood, SK, where they loved and travelled for thirteen years upon his death, she returned to Thunder Bay. Norah married Robert Goretzki and spent the next thirteen years travelling, singing, and dancing.
Norah is survived by her son Allen and Brad (Dottie), nephew Thomas Frederic Corcoran and wife Joanne, sister-in-law Olga Crane as well as many nieces and nephews, godson David Harrison and goddaughter Brenda Berringer and family.
Norah was very lucky in love, and she had many friends. She travelled to Mesa, Arizona in the winter and read tea leaves, she was known as Madame Snowbird by her friends. She will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in the Chapel of Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21. North Court Street with Pastor Matthew Diegel.
