Mr. Peter Gregory Desmoulin, age 67 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, July 8, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family.
Peter was born in Pic Mobert on November 17, 1955 to Watson and Emily Desmoulin. He met Brenda Fisher and they were married in 1981, spending over 42 years together.
Peter worked hard throughout his life and in many jobs including policing, railroading, mining, education as well as being a former Band Councillor and Chief of Pic Mobert First Nation. He was a true leader, and community supporter of everyone. He loved to teach, guide and advise with his wisdom and share the history of his traditional culture and his family. Peter had a strong faith, diligently reading his bible and praising Jesus with his musical talents of both guitar and singing. He enjoyed the outdoors including trapping, fishing and hunting.
His greatest passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He took every opportunity to share stories and help them through life in every way. Peter's humour brought joy to the hearts of many and those who have been fortunate to know him, will forever cherish the laughs, smiles and memories they shared. His strength, kindness and big heart will be deeply missed.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; children Raymond Fisher (Valina), Patrick Desmoulin, Roslyn Desmoulin (Leon K.), Alfred Desmoulin and Jordan Fisher; grandchildren Chasity, Trinity, Raymond Jr., Harley, Madison, Darian, Halie, Derry, Darilyn, Aiden, Kasey, Lawson, Brenda and Emile. He is also survived by his sister Vivian (Leon C.) and brother Callum (Mona D.) as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Watson and Emily Desmoulin; sister Karen and brother Lyle; mother-in-law and father-in-law Agnes and Raino Fisher; niece Kay Fisher and nephew Sidney Abraham Jr. as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Services for the late Peter Desmoulin will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, Thunder Bay. Cremation will follow with interment in Pic Mobert at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday beginning at 11:00am.
