It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Darrell Morriseau, who left us on Monday, August 11th, at the age of 59. He passed while on a long-awaited journey to the Bay of Fundy, a place he had dreamed of visiting for many years. Though he did not make it to its shore, we hope to finish his journey someday.

Born on July 6, 1966, in Fort William, ON, Robert was a proud community member of Fort William First Nation. He was the beloved son of the late Richard and Frances Morriseau.

Robert lived a life grounded in family, humor, and unconditional love for everyone. In the last few years, he was working on his bucket list, slowly accomplishing the things he wanted as he knew his years were numbered.

Robert spent a huge part of his life working on various housing projects with his best friend and son-in-law, Jonathon. He was also a proud bingo caller at Mountain Bingo where he spent his evenings making everyone laugh and feel welcome. Most recently, he became a bus driver which he loved as he was a kid at heart. Everything he did, he did with love and laughter.

He was a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan and recently went to see a game and the Stanley Cup. We know that he will be cheering them on from above!

But no roles defined Robert more than that of being a father and grandfather. Both roles he honoured and he was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his children Jessyka (Jon), Curtis, Shania, and Lindsey; his stepchildren Clifford, Franklin, Cheyenne (John), Serina (James), and Brentley; his siblings Craig, Nicole (Leonard), Rhonda (Randy), Neal (Tamara), and Tina; his grandchildren Linkoln, Xavier, Ellis, and Tobias; his loving partner, Pamela, who he loved with all of his heart; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn, and his parents, Richard and Frances Morriseau.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Anne’s R.C. Church with Prayers being offered at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26th at 11:00 am in St. Anne’s R.C. Church a with burial to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Reception will follow at Mountain Bingo.
