ROBERT EDWARD KUSHNIER
July 20th, 1965 – January 2nd, 2024

It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we share the passing of Robert (Rob) Edward Kushnier, on January 2nd, 2024 following a very short but courageous battle with cancer, with his mother and oldest daughter by his side. Rob fought with incredible strength, never giving up hope as he has always done throughout his life.

Born July 20th,1965, he was the first born to Edward and Janet Kushnier in Fort William. He began his career with the Thunder Bay Police on November 14th, 1995, where he was known affectionately as “Kush'' and dedicated himself selflessly to the service for the last 28 years. In his off time, his happy place was always within nature, where he loved to go fishing and hunting with friends and family, or growing his beautiful gardens at his home. He loved taking his kids to hockey games and to races at the speedway, always making sure to make wonderful memories with them. In his younger years he was also an incredibly talented artist.

Rob never failed to make those around him smile and laugh with his humour, touching the hearts of all who had the opportunity to meet him through his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was a man of honour, strength, and integrity, and the best son, father, and role model anyone could have asked for.

He is survived by his mother Jan, brother Mark (Roxanne), his children; Rebekah (Nick Kew), Lexi, Parker, and his niece and nephew; Sophie and Branden.

He is predeceased by his father Edward, and grandparents; Peter and Frances, as well as Michael and Jenny Olenski.

As per Rob’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place with interment to occur privately at a later date. We wish to thank all those who supported us through donations during this difficult time and to the Thunder Bay Police Association for their ongoing support as well. Should friends wish to do so, memorial donations can be made to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Fish and Wildlife Fund in his honour.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

To the strongest man we’ve ever known; we love you more than anything, always and forever Dad.

Rest easy.
