With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Rylee Vanderwees. Born on March 13, 1973, Rylee grew up in Murillo, where she later raised her five children in the same cherished home of her childhood.
In her youth, Rylee was an accomplished hockey player, whose talent earned her an invitation to try out for the Canadian Olympic team. Through hockey, she made many lasting friendships that she cherished throughout her life. Her passion for life also extended to farming and equestrian events, pursuits she embraced for 15 years and lovingly shared with her children.
Rylee’s warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit were evident in in every aspect of her life. She found the greatest joy in the company of her family and friends. There was never a dull moment and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her beloved children, David (Shaleena) Ryan, Adam (Alysia) Ryan, Cassandra Vanderwees, Katrina Vanderwees, and Shawn Vanderwees Jr. Along with her grandchildren, Adrieana, Willow, and Ada-Lynn Ryan. Rylee is also survived by her mother, Janet Rose; siblings, Jason Turner, Jenny (Eddie) Duggan, Allen (Courtney) Powell and Ryan Powell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her lifelong best friend and “partner in crime” Kristan (Wayne) Valley, who will forever hold her memory close.
Predeceased by her father, Barry Turner; mother, Jackie Turner; grandparents, George and Lesley O’Neill; and her devoted husband, Shawn Vanderwees.
Rylee’s legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
