Kari manages three sales executives, Rick Galati, Ange Sponchia and Abhi Giri.
When dealing with Kari, or any executive at Dougall Media, you get a personalized experience when it comes to advertising.
“We're people who live in the same region; we live in the same city as all our business owners. We care about our community. We want it to be a happy, fun place to reside and we are proud to say that we live here,” Kari said.
Dougall Media has been Kari’s workplace for three years, but as far as advertising she has over nine years experience under her belt.
The Dougall Media crew is like a family in her eyes.
“I know people say that and it's so cheesy. But it is true! I've worked for other businesses who aren't local, and you're a number, you're an employee, that's just what you are to them.
“I've never worked for a place where I've had the president of the company come into my office and sit down and ask how I'm doing, compliment me on my office and tell me that he's proud of what I'm doing.
“Everyone here has your back and they care about you as a person, you're not just an employee,” she said.
If Kari had some time off, with no limitations, she would be travelling.
“If you look in my office, I'm obsessed and I've always been obsessed with New York City. I got to go on my dream trip there last year.
“In a heartbeat I would go back there and I would spend as much time as I was allowed and I would do whatever I possibly could. I love it.
“Big cities are my place where I feel comfortable as opposed to a beachy area. I'd also love to go to San Francisco or Greece – just travel. I like to learn and explore.”
Music and concerts speak to Kari on a whole other level. With over 45 concerts under her belt, each one comes with its own unforgettable story (and maybe a few off-key singalongs).
“I’ve volunteered at Wake the Giant, Country on the Bay, BrewHA, WineOH, those types of things, because I love just being in the community and having fun while doing it.”
When Kari is not at the office, you could find her with her kids and her boyfriend, hanging out in the backyard, by the pool or going on adventures like hiking. If she has some down time, you’d most likely catch her with a book in one hand and Starbucks in the other.
She’s a Thunder Bay girl, and couldn’t be prouder.
“I always say like I love big cities and I do; but I also love the ease of living here.
“You go from one end of the city to the other in 20 minutes max. Within 10 minutes, you're on a beautiful hiking trail, you're at a waterfall. I feel safe. I feel like my little guy who's seven, who wants to try and ride his bike to school, I don't have a problem with him attempting to do that this year.
“It’s just beautiful. You drive down Red River Road every single day and that view of the Sleeping Giant is different every single day. It’s a beautiful place to live and raise your family and I am very proud to say that I live here in Thunder Bay.”
