Highway 17 Reopened After Serious Collision

Highway 17 has reopened near Marathon after a three-vehicle collision.

MARATHON, ON – Highway 17 has fully reopened in both directions after being closed for several hours on Thursday following a serious collision near Heron Bay Road, just outside Marathon.

The crash, which occurred early in the morning, involved a transport truck, an SUV, and a pickup truck. One man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed the highway to facilitate an ongoing investigation into the collision and thanked the public for their patience during the disruption.

According to the Ministry of Transportation’s 511 service, lanes near Peninsula Road and the Lafarge Plant entrance were impacted throughout the day. The scene was cleared and normal traffic flow resumed by 7:16 p.m.
