MARATHON — Adam Brown, the North Superior Healthcare Group's CEO, completed the 45-kilometre walk from Walkers Lake in Schreiber to Michael King Hall in Terrace Bay yesterday at 5 p.m.
In an interview with Dougall Media, Brown said: “We survived, which was goal number one, but it was actually a really good day.”
He stated that 16 other walkers from organizations in the area joined him on the journey to raise funds for health-care initiatives and the Harvest Cupboard Food Bank.
Although wild weather was forecasted for the northern region, Brown ended up missing the brunt of the rain.
After 10 years of walking in the CEO challenge, Brown acknowledged that he is “not getting younger.”
“It hurts more every year. And as you know, putting on any event, you want to talk about what you've done the year before. So, yeah, it's getting harder and harder. But that's part of the challenge, right?” explained Brown.
Brown thanked Mitchell Hatton for all the behind-the-scenes work organizing the event, as well as Marylyn Dingwall from the North Shore Family Health Team for their effort in organizing the health fair that took place at Michael King Hall.
