NIPIGON – Coun. Gordon Mackenzie did not specify a reason for resigning his position as a council member.

In a letter addressed to Linda Berube, deputy clerk, Mackenzie informed the municipality of his resignation effective March 31.

During the regular council meeting on Tuesday, April 9, Nipigon council accepted Mackenzie's resignation.

Council will also hold a special council meeting on Thursday, April 11 to discuss whether they will hold a by-election or fill the position by appointment.

Mackenzie is the third council member to resign their position since this council took office on Dec. 1, 2022.
