It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marisa Cavion on Tuesday December 14, 2021 at the age of 82 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Marisa was born in Pordenone, Italy and emigrated to Canada in 1956 aboard the SS Andrea Doria at the age of 16 with her Mother and young brother. She lived in her home on McLeod Street in the East End of Thunder Bay before moving into long term care. She was married to her loving husband Giuseppe Cavion for 50 years. When reflecting on the life that Marisa lived, the words compassionate, caring, and resilient immediately come to mind. She was devoted to her family and adored her granddaughters beyond measure. She loved spending time in her flower garden, as well as cooking and caretaking for family and neighbours, often inviting them in for a bowl of good soup. Marisa was a woman of elegant style with a good sense of humor and infectious laugh that would brighten anyone’s day. She was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Parish, the CWL, and Ladies Venet Society. It is difficult to put into words how much we will miss Marisa, but we will live each day with her in our hearts.

To Dr. Skunta and the staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor, thank you for taking care of Marisa as you would your own family.

Marisa will be lovingly remembered by her children Amanzio, Onorio, Claudia (Tony), granddaughters Erica (Conor), Farren (David), brother Juliano (Pam), and niece and nephew Jennifer (Chris) Myllyaho and Trevor (Sonia) Brusadin. She is predeceased by her husband Giuseppe Cavion, parents Enrico and Margharita Brusadin and sibling Augustina Brusadin in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 21st, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam, visitation one hour prior to service. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
