Mr. Eric (Joseph) Desbiens, aged 80 years of Mcleod Street, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022 at 1:15pm, with his family at his side.

Eric was born in Dalton, Ontario on February 22nd, 1941 and he came to Thunder Bay in 1976. He married the love of his life, Patricia Barnes, in 1961 at Sulton, Ontario. Eric was a devout Christian and active in the church. His main interests were his family, his love for food and passion for Metis culture.

Eric leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia. He was the loving Father of four sons Patrick Desbiens (deceased), Shawn Desbiens (Thunder Bay), Eric Desbiens (Alberta), Ian (Sarah) Desbiens (Thunder Bay), and four daughters Shirley (Doug) Bray (Edmonton), Debra Desbiens (Edmonton), Sharon Stoltz (Thunder Bay) and Sandra Peacock (Thunder Bay). Eric will be sadly missed by his siblings Frank (Lena) Desbiens, Wallace (Mae) Desbiens, Alexander Desbiens (deceased) (Susan), Raymond (deceased), Merina (George) Fortin, Jean (Donald) La Rocque, Linda (Emile) Miron, Lorraine Dube and Colleen (Isidore) Collin. Eric “Pere” will be remembered by his 23 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private Celebration of Eric's Life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00pm. Friends are invited to watch the service live via Zoom (Meeting ID: 858 5045 3037 Passcode: Desbiens).

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Eric to George Jeffrey Children's Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

In life we all loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
Though we cannot see you now, remember you will always be by our side.
