Stefan John Derech of O'Connor Township passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with colon cancer. Stefan was a selfless man with a big heart, incredible positivity, and an immense will to live. He was a once in a lifetime friend, a hardworking man, and a charismatic goof with a unique sense of humor. He held his community in high regard, and was a lifelong volunteer of the O'Connor Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his family dearly, and was blessed to be able to work for and learn from his father to become an electrician.

He will be remembered and loved forever by his parents, Steve and Bonnie Derech, his partner, Meghan Oda, his sisters, Faith (Matt) Vis and Sarah Derech (Nolan Lougheed), his cherished niece and nephew, Ava and Noah, his best friend Brad Buob, as well as his extended family and friends.

Stef's determination in his tremendous eight year battle with cancer allowed us to share many moments of laughter, victory, friendship, and love. His family would like to thank Dr. Davenport, the Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care staff, and the 1A & 3C staff of the TBRHSC for their parts in Stefan's exceptional care throughout his illness.

A small service will be held privately for Stefan's family and close friends. Stefan will be laid to rest at the O'Connor Cemetery later this month, where we encourage family and friends to take his favourite drive from town, enjoy the rural beauty of the area, and find peace in knowing that Stefan is home without any more pain.
