Speed cameras, are a great idea.
The only people ones who won't like them are the SPEEDERS.
No speeding .. No ticket .

Helpful , sobering information.
Maybe if drivers realize the serious difference between hitting a deer [ or smaller animal ] and hitting a moose, they might slow down , for their own or their passengers' safety , of course.
If the new moose signs accomplish this, where 60 km speed limit signs could not, [ as evidenced by the many speeders on this road], these new signs were worth the phone calls to get Severn township to install them, which they did within a few days of the moose being spotted. Well done. Thank you!
Now, to get the OPP to monitor Division Rd. West more closely , and ticket the many speeders along this 60 Km section of this road.
The residents and animals will thank you for protecting their lives.

No one mentioned 'relocation' of any animals in this article.
It was written to inform people of these newly spotted animals in this area, so they can drive more carefully , Slow down, Obey the 60 km speed limit[ clearly posted], and thus maybe save some lives.. wild animals and humans.
Way too many wild animals have been needlessly killed by speeding drivers along this wooded section of this road over the years.
The OPP have now designated this area as one to be more closely monitored.
Maybe a fine or loss of points will encourage drivers to obey the 60km speed limit.

You've entirely missed the point of the article.
OPP were contacted to monitor this area for speeders, with these 'new' animals in the area recently seen crossing the busy road.
It was for everyone's safety.
If the posted speed limit [60km] were obeyed, every living thing on this road, animals and humans, would stand a better chance of not being hit .
New moose signs installed should notify drivers of their presence , along with the many other wild animals that live in these woods.[ and often cross this road].
Drivers , you've been well notified and informed.

Read the article again.
The OPP were asked to monitor this area more often for speeders .. moose or not.
Nothing to do with 'trespassing' moose , deer, raccoons, squirrels or any other wild life who are often killed by people driving well over the posted speed limit .. 60km, with prominent deer and moose signs.
Speed kills.. animals and humans.
Maybe substantial fines and point losses might have some impact .
OPP are always invited to sit in the driveways of the residents here, and start ticketing.

OPP were asked to keep this are better patrolled for all the speeders.. NOT to patrol the moose!

A Ludicrous , dangerous , killing practice!
Oh.. now I get the reason for this horrific spray.. for the greedy profit of the forest industry.
And.. the extreme detriment [ including death] of every other living thing.. vegetation, insects , birds, fish, animals and humans.
This is very serious.
How do we get this horrible practice stopped ?
What government agency is responsible for this blatantly deadly spray?
Hopefully, someone will write about that.

My heartfelt condolences to Barb and her family.
I enjoyed my time working with Ron and our great sales team at CFOR radio in the 80's .
We always managed to have lots of fun together .
We stayed in good touch over the years , and happily rejoiced when we would meet up.
I will miss his big smile and hugs.

If you moved the nest , to a safer place, could the mother find it ?
OR.. is this never done because it just isn't ever successful?
Concerned .

GREAT idea ! But not possible, due to the authorities 'rules' of sign posting .
Clearly, many drivers could care less about what the posted speed limit signs clearly indicate, 60 Km, but ,might actually think about their OWN SAFETY and damages to their OWN VEHICLES , if they consider a collision with a MOOSE.
Many years ago, deer crossing signs were posted , due to the many deer that were being killed crossing the road in this heavily wooded section .
The POSTED speed limit was also changed to 60 Kms .
Initially ,this appeared to make a slight difference to drivers, but because it was not monitored by the OPP on a regular basis, and drivers realized this, [ no tickets],the speeding increased, and animals began being killed by speeding drivers. A fawn, recently.
This dense woods comes right up to both sides of this section of road, offering NO TIME for drivers to react to animals.
SLOW DOWN..You might SAVE a LIFE..even YOUR OWN.
