Another Nipigon councillor resigns

NIPIGON — A second member of Nipigon council has submitted their resignation within the first year of the term.

The resignation of Pierre Pelletier was announced by the municipality last week.

The reason for his resignation is currently unknown at this time.

Council is expected to officially accept the resignation at the next council meeting on May 2. Once official, council will have 60 days to decide if they'll hold a by-election or appoint a replacement.

Pelletier is the second councillor of Nipigon to resign this year.

John Zechner resigned from Council in late January and Glen Hart was appointed to fill his position in late Feb.

Pelletier resignation leaves three councillors — Kathy Sakamoto, Gordon MacKenzie and Glen Hart — alongside Mayor Suzanne Kukko.
