Multiple transports involved in collisions on Hwy 11

Two serious collisions occurred involving tractor-trailer units and even a snowplow.

THUNDER BAY — Two serious collisions occurred along Highway 11 over the past couple of days.

On Sunday night, part of the highway between Nipigon and Beardmore was closed for over 12 hours due to a single tractor-trailer collision.

Officers with the OPP were dispatched to the scene around 9:45 pm, and the highway was closed until approximately 10:30 am Monday morning.

There were two occupants in the transport truck, with one person suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

Police report that a 29-year-old male from British Columbia has been charged with careless driving.

The second incident involved three vehicles, a provincial snowplow and two tractor-trailer units, both of which were hauling loads.

This incident had police responding to the scene around 3 am Monday morning, with the section of the highway near Klotz Lake closed for a few hours. The highway was reopened a few hours later.

Photos and several videos of the scene were posted to a Facebook page

Despite the appearance of two toppled and wrecked transport trucks and a snowplow in the ditch, only two people suffered minor injuries.

The OPP reported that the investigation is ongoing. A 32-year-old male from Manitoba has been charged.
